Too Much Screen Time Is Bad For Your Creative Juices

According to University of Texas professor Elizabeth Vandewater, for every hour a kid regularly watches television, his overall time in creative activities—from fantasy play to arts projects—drops as much as 11 percent. With kids spending about three hours in front of televisions each day, that could be a one-third reduction in creative time—less time to develop a sense of creative self-efficacy through play.

How Do I Know God’s Will For My Life?

This is the question everyone will have asked at least once.

[But] the vast majority of people start at the wrong place.
When I finished college, I desperately wanted to know what I should do next. Find a job? Go to grad school? Where? In what field?
I prayed until I was exhausted (and God was probably a little tired of it too). I was ready to do whatever. Just send me a postcard. Put it in sky writing. But I would have gotten more clarity with a Magic 8 ball.
For a good reason.
Which I did not understand for many years. And its this:
God’s main purpose for you is not what you do. Its who you become.

Thanks Lucien.

HOW TO: Create a DBS iBanking App for Your Mac

Although Internet Banking has changed the way I pay bills and do finances, I still find it a hassle to open a browser and click on my bank’s web address listed on the favourites. Call me lazy, but I have found a better alternative.

This little hack should work for most banking sites (or even any web app that you want to convert into a desktop app), but for my case I’ve worked this magic on DBS’s iBanking.

First download Fluid App (3.6mb).

Install and run the Fluid from the Applications folder. Next fill in the required information. You can download the DBS icon at the end of this post for your DBS iBanking Fluid application.

I saved my icon for the application under a new folder called “Fluid Icons” under the Library folder. Once Fluid has created the application you should see something like this.

Now you’re ready to start your new Internet Banking experience all from just one click. And to round it off, drag your newly created application onto your dock for even easier access!

For those who are even lazier than me, I’ve zipped the application for your use. Just unzip it and drag it to your Applications folder. It should work. If it doesn’t, leave a comment. And if it works great for you, leave a comment letting me know too!

Gentleman and Christian

This post is part 1 of 1 from the series "Mere Christianity"

The word gentleman originally meant something recognisable; one who had a coat of arms and some landed property. When you called someone ‘a gentleman’ you were not paying him compliment, but merely stating a fact. If you said he was not ‘a gentleman’ you were not insulting him, but giving information.
